The Head of Educational Support will be a member of the school administration and responsible for all aspects of student support. This includes identifying students’ individual learning profiles, coordinating any needed support both inside and outside of the classroom, and working with teachers in all areas of the curriculum.
Specific responsibilities include:
Keep Updated Student Records
Learning and testing accommodations
Manage forms for testing
Manage ADHD/medication forms
Identify students in need of individual learning programs
Administer DIBELS/MAZE reading assessment test and follow up as indicated by results
Administer Lexia and Heggerty math assessment test
Observe students in classroom to help identify children in need of support
Consult with administration regarding admissions decisions
Meet with teachers about students with individual learning programs to identify classroom accommodations
Work with classroom teachers to coordinate tutoring schedules
Maintain regular communication with the parents of children receiving individualized programs
Communicate with parents about needs for testing and/or special services such as Speech, OT, PT, Therapy
Collaborate with other administrators to provide meaningful professional development opportunities for teachers
The Head of Educational Support will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:
Master’s degree in Special Education
Five years of experience working with students with specific learning needs
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Collaborative working style; a “team player”
Expertise in special education teaching methods and practices
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Flexibility to adapt to circumstances and challenges in the moment
Positive energy and enthusiasm; passionate commitment to supporting each student
Deep experience with both Limudei Kodesh and General Studies (ideal but not required)
