Vision of Leadership:
- The Head of School will have an educational vision towards the future.
- Will work to increase confidence of the parent body in the administration and the school.
- Will create excitement in the school which will hopefully aid us in attracting new families both in town and out-of-town (to move here).
- Will work effectively together with the school’s Dean, Rabbi Scheinerman by focusing on the educational aspects of the school and assisting Rabbi Scheinerman in allowing him to focus on the financial areas i.e., fund raising etc.
Duties:
School Organization:
Assemblies (Chanukah and other school wide programs)
“Front office” (oversight of the school secretary)
Relationship building and supervision of faculty Implementing changes or improvement plans when necessary
Morale (staff, faculty and parents) Very important to be supportive and to give an ear to all
Relationship with the Board in general and Executive Committee specifically
Executing on follow-through from committee and Board meetings
Standards and goals for accreditation and improvement
Teacher recruitment and retention
Oversight of substitute teachers (selection and performance)
Acting upon and publicizing our successes on national standardized tests General attention to detail
Students:
Recruitment, acceptance and placement of new students
Discipline in each of the school’s divisions (elementary, middle and high school)
Special needs: range of services, its coordination and organization
Individual relationship between the Head of School and the students
Creation of a student-focused environment
Placement in High Schools, Yeshivas and colleges
Curriculum:
Ensuring the administration stays current with established and evolving standards
Ensuring that faculty development takes place in a timely and appropriate fashion
Head of School’s oversight of curriculum development
Monitoring the obtaining of textbooks in the school
College Prep and Seminary Guidance (Israel and domestic)
School-parent relationship:
Relationship with and guidance of “Boarder” parents
Meetings with parents (in person)
Newsletters and other general communications with parents
Reaching out to new parents
Responsiveness to parents – “quality and timeliness” (either the Head of School’s personal involvement or ensuring that the response has occurred)
Announcing of new policies and how that is conveyed
Extracurricular activities:
Student Council
Local and Regional contests for Elementary/Middle School/NEAT students, including the Boarders
Vision for after-school programming for each of these student groups
Educational trips
Design volunteer programs for our students
