About the Position
Maayan Torah Day School is seeking a capable educator ready to grow into a leader. Our vision is for the person in this role to become Head of School for 2026-2027. For 2025-2026, this individual will work in collaboration with current leadership to best actualize the school’s vision and mission and function as an ambassador for the school, including, but not limited to, the following:
Community Engagement
● Intentionally make personal connections to the Maayan community to cultivate strong
relationships with students, parents, and teachers
● Energetically reach out to, and participate in, the broader Portland community by connecting with lay and professional Jewish leaders and attending a broad variety of community events
● Fully participate in recruitment, retention activities,
Finance, Marketing and Development
● Become familiar with the school’s financial and operations practices, plans and issues in order to best manage school resources
● Think strategically to help create short and long term blueprints for success
● Develop a structure to support the cultivation of donor relationships and secure funding for the
school
● Become familiar with resources, including grant opportunities, to broaden income stream
Recruitment
● Using myriad strategies, actively recruit and focus on retention of students, ensuring that Maayan appeals to a wide-range of students from all observance levels.
● Continuously engage with current families to ascertain school satisfaction and suggestions for
improvement
● Be an active community presence
