Sefer Melachim

The Melachim Curriculum is a fantastic resource for both veteran and new Navi teachers. The visually engaging teacher’s guide is replete with charts and graphic tools, including clear footnotes, ensuring teachers have quick access to all cited texts.

Geared towards a maturing audience, the curriculum anticipates the growing critical thinking skills and sophisticated questions students may have. It provides meaningful, honest answers to help teachers navigate these discussions. One key focus of the curriculum is comparative analysis, encouraging students to explore similarities between characters and stories in Tanach. This practice helps students build connections across different sefarim, reinforcing that no text should be learned in isolation, rather within the broader context of Tanach.

The teacher’s guide offers a wealth of ideas to engage students, including activities, examples connecting the Navi narrative to the modern world, practical life lessons derived from the text and thought-provoking topics for discussion. The guide also addresses discrepancies found in Divrei Hayamim, ideal for more advanced classes.

The accompanying student workbook is easy to follow, with each perek divided into smaller sections that include note-taking guides and space for student questions. Each section features peshat-based questions as well as deeper textual and thought-provoking questions. Students will finish each unit with creative exit tickets and conclude each perek with a summary and final review activity.

Students will develop a deep appreciation for the golden age of Shlomo’s kingdom — a time of stability, peace, prosperity and universal recognition of Hashem, with the majestic בית המקדש at its heart. Through exploring this era, students will gain an understanding of why we long for the coming of משיח and fervently pray for the restoration of מלכות בית דוד to its original glory.
