Starr Family Jewish Day School is a warm, community-centered K–8 Jewish day school dedicated to nurturing confident, knowledgeable, and proud Jewish students. Position Overview
Starr Family Jewish Day School seeks a humbly confident and experienced educational leader to serve as Head of School. The Head of School is the senior educational authority of the school and is responsible for the daily functioning of academics, faculty supervision, and student life.
The Head of School will function as the instructional leader, organizational manager, and primary point of contact for parents and faculty. The position reports to the Board of Directors and works in close partnership with the Board on strategy and long-term planning, while maintaining autonomy over educational and operational decisions within the school.
The successful candidate will stabilize operations, build a strong faculty culture, support student success, and guide the school’s growth and long-term sustainability.
The Head of School will also play a visible role in admissions conversations and community engagement to support enrollment stability and growth.

Strategic Leadership Responsibilities
The Head of School will provide clear direction for the school’s growth and sustainability, aligning educational excellence with community trust. Responsibilities include:
- Establish academic and behavioral expectations across classrooms
- Implement systems for teacher supervision, evaluation, and coaching
- Strengthen curriculum, particularly in Judaic studies and Hebrew learning
- Support enrollment growth and retention through strong family relationships
- Collaborate with the Board on long-term planning and school priorities
- Develop consistent school procedures and communication systems

- Recruit, support, and retain high-quality teachers

- Implement systems for tracking student progress and support
